Team Development

In two years of coaching BMSC (2014-2016) participation at swim meets by the membership of the Burlington Masters Swim Club was rebuilt to levels not seen since 2011 based on # of swims and 2009 based on # of swimmers. It should also be noted that MSO data does not include the # swims or swimmers attending Open Water Provincials at which BMSC started competing as a team in 2015. That year, BMSC had 13 swimmers compete in the 3000m, 5000m or 10,000m open water events.

In 2016 based on the Masters Swimming Ontario (MSO) member directory, BMSC saw its membership reach an all time high of 144.

“You [MJ] have amazing knowledge and are up to date on the most recent developments in terms of technique, etc…  And let’s face it… your coaching worked for me.  I saw times in the past 2 years that I never thought I’d get close to again.  I know I didn’t have the same level of attendance at practice as I have had in the past, but the drills, tips, focus on kicking, etc… that you provided seemed to click for me and I was thrilled with the results.”

“I just wanted to reach out to you and say thank you for all you have done for me and my swimming over the past 2 years. Your coaching philosophy and your passion for coaching and helping your athletes improve is incredible. I am so fortunate to have learned from you in your time with BMSC, and I would have never been able to make the improvements I did this season without your direction and guidance. I learned so much not only about swimming, but about myself as an athlete both in and out of the water. I am truly grateful for all I have gained  working with you.”
