Strains, Sprains, and Pains

It happens to all of us at some point.  We slip, fall, and bang a hip or twist an ankle, workout too long ending up with pain somewhere or everywhere.

In most cases, following the R.I.C.E. protocol (i.e. Rest/ Ice/ Compress/ Elevate) for acute injuries allows for a complete recovery. When that doesn’t work we hope that the pain will go away on its own in a few days. When it doesn’t, we hope that another week or so is all that’s needed for the pain to go away.

Usually, its not until we see ourselves in a mirror walking with a limp, when it hurts too much to reach back to put on a jacket, or when we roll over in the middle of the night and wake up startled by pain that we figure that it ain’t gonna go away on its own.

If you are stuck with a pain that just won’t go away then it may be time to seek a helping hand from a physiotherapist.
